Dejan Kulusevski must start Saturday’s crucial Premier League match at Manchester City, according to legendary Tottenham midfielder Glenn Hoddle.
Tottenham won their first group game 2-0 over Marseille. Son Heung-min did, however, play a significant role in the visitors’ being reduced to 10 men, which turned the tide in the game.
Richarlison was the hero after scoring the team’s first two goals. Hoddle believes that Kulusevski needs to be put back into the starting XI at The Etihad.
The Swede started off on the bench against Marseille but was substituted in as Tottenham looked to score.
Kulusevski gave Antonio Conte’s team more options down that side right away. However, it is extremely unlikely that he will play the same role for City.
With City’s offensive threat, Conte will almost certainly choose the more defensive-minded Emerson.
That calls for leaving out one of Son or Richarlison in order to make room for Kulusevski, which will be a difficult decision.
