Tottenham Hotspur has asked Clement Lenglet to respond to their inquiries about signing him by the end of the week, according to reports in Spain.
Lenglet is one of many left-footed defensive players who have recently been associated with Tottenham. If he joined them, he would make a better choice than full-back Ben Davies for the left side of the back three.
Lenglet may be given away by Barcelona in exchange for the right offer. His departure would aid their ongoing efforts to organize their finances.
The French international has two main suitors, with Tottenham being one of them. Although there are some questions about their own pursuit, he has also been associated with Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
Tottenham may therefore be prepared to sign Lenglet if they can reach an agreement with the defender and his employers at Barcelona.
Lenglet is “close” to signing a loan deal with Tottenham, claims Mundo Deportivo. The Premier League team, on the other hand, is eager to finalize his signing.
Lenglet has not yet confirmed the potential transfer to Spurs, despite their offer having arrived a few days ago. This is why they are now asking him to decide by the end of the week.
In turn, Tottenham would be able to enter pre-season confident that they had obtained a crucial component of Antonio Conte’s system. This summer, they don’t want the question to follow them around for too long.
Barcelona will also benefit from attempting to close a deal quickly. They can then concentrate on registering signings of their own.
Determining whether Lenglet will play for them in the upcoming season should therefore be made clear soon. If the answer is no, they will immediately divert their focus.
But the 27-year-manager old’s at Barcelona, Xavi, has told him to find a new team. He might be seriously considering Tottenham’s suggestion as a result.
It seems inevitable that he will accept Spurs’ offer. They simply desire that he act as soon as possible.
