Chelsea move to hijack deal for Arteta’s top target for Arsenal

Chelsea are looking to hijack Arsenal’s deal for Moises Caicedo, despite that the player has reportedly ‘agree personal terms’ with Arsenal.
Caicedo was a major target for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta in January with the Spanish gaffer sanctioning a club-record bid in excess of £70m for the player but a deal fell through as Brighton refused to sell.
The Gunners have returned with their interest in the midfielder Arsenal, and according to new reports, they have now ‘agreed personal terms’ with the player.
Mikel Arteta’s side will now negotiate a fee with Brighton, who have slammed a price tag of £80m on the 21-year-old Ecuador international.
But in order to hijack the deal, Chelsea are reportedly willing to pay Brighton more than Arsenal for the player.
Caicedo set for talks with the west London club in the next few days to learn about Mauricio Pochettino’s project.
But Caicedo is keen to play in the Champions League – with Chelsea out of Europe next term – and it is thought that his priority is to join Arsenal.
