Chelsea captain reacts as club’s new owner gets first disappointment

Chelsea takeover: Sale of club to American billionaire Todd Boehly could 'fall apart'- Report

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta expressed sadness that the Blues were unable to deliver new owner Todd Boehly his first win after a 2-2 draw with Wolves on Saturday.

Boehly, the club’s new owner, watched in despair as Thomas Tuchel’s team blew a two-goal lead in the fight for Champions League qualifying.

The group led by the American business billionaire had agreed to acquire the Premier League heavyweights from Roman Abramovich for £4.25 billion.

When the referee called Ruben Loftus-goal Cheek’s offside, Boehly, who was watching from the stands, appeared stunned.

Wolves struck twice in the last 11 minutes, including a stoppage-time equalizer by Conor Coady.

Boehly was spotted with his head in his hands in response to the poor performance.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, Azpilicueta said, “Of course we are disappointed not to get the first win for him. It is out of our hands so not worth wasting energy on that.”
