Champions League: Alan Smith predicts club to win trophy this season
Manchester City stand a chance of winning the Champions League again this season, according to Alan Smith
Former Newcastle United star, Alan Smith, has tipped Manchester City to win the Champions League again this season.
He said it would be difficult to overlook Manchester City as favourites to win the trophy,
Manchester City won the competition last season and also claimed the Premier League and FA Cup.
Their first game of this season’s competition is against Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday.
“It would be difficult to look past Man City again. They’ve gotten over the mental block of winning it, and perhaps they’ll feel freer to go and win it again,” he told BoyleSports
“I’d say most managers would consider winning their domestic leagues more important, though. I know Pep was begging to win the Champions League with City, but he’s an exception. That being said, the Champions League is still a magical competition. I can’t look past City now they’ve got that experience.
“I think Bayern also have a great chance. They are a club that loves to win the Champions League. The big teams always do. I’m expecting the usual suspects will be there towards the end of the competition.”
