Chelsea defeated Newcastle via a penalty shoot-out on Tuesday night, to qualify for the Carabao Cup semi-final.
The Magpies appeared to have won the game at Stamford Bridge, thanks to Callum Wilson’s goal in the 16th minute.
But the hosts hit back in stoppage-time through Mykhailo Mudryk.
Chelsea then won on spot-kicks after Kieran Trippier – whose error allowed Mudryk in for the equaliser – and Matt Ritchie missed from 12 yards.
Newcastle, last season’s beaten finalists, will have to continue their wait for a first trophy since 1969 for a bit longer.
In the other games played on the night, Middlesbrough and Fulham also booked their spots in the final four of the competition.
The last semi-finalists will be decided between Liverpool and West Ham on Wednesday night. Then the draw will follow shortly.
