The CAF Awards 2022, Africa’s most prestigious football awards ceremony, will take place on Thursday, July 21, 2022, in Morocco.
The CAF Awards will take place ahead of the final of Africa’s most prestigious women’s tournament, the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2023, which will be held on July 2–23, 2022.
The event will also mark the two-year anniversary of the CAF Women’s Football Strategy’s launch.
Following the successful launch of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League in November 2021, a new category, Interclub Women Player of the Year, was created.
In addition to the coveted prizes, there will be several categories to be presented, as in previous editions: Player of the Year, Men and Women.
Interclub Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, National Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year, and Goal of the Year are among the other categories.
Captains and coaches from Member Associations, selected journalists, the CAF Technical Study Group, and CAF Legends will vote to determine the winners.
The period under review is from September 2021 until June 2022. The previous CAF Awards ceremony took place in Hurghada, Egypt, in 2019.
Sadio Mane of Senegal and Asisat Oshoala of Nigeria won the African Player of the Year Man and Woman categories, respectively.
