Hasan Salihamidzic, the director of Bayern Munich, has reiterated his position that the German club has not discussed a potential transfer with Harry Kane of Tottenham.
Following Robert Lewandowski’s departure, Kane was on Bayern’s radar this summer, and reports have even suggested that the Bundesliga club is attempting to persuade Kane to run down his contract in order to facilitate a move in 2023 – something the club has already rejected.
Salihamidzic has since taken things a step further by emphasising that they have never even talked to Kane about a transfer, either this summer or the following year.
“I haven’t spoken to anyone in Harry Kane’s camp,” Salihamidzic told Sport1. “We have faith in our players. Serge [Gnabry], Sadio [Mane], [Eric Maxim] Choupo-Moting and also [Mathys] Tel.
“These are guys who should grow into it. We have eight players for four positions. In the end you have to see what the market has to offer and we didn’t find anyone is better than what was already in our squad.”
Kane has two years left on his current contract and is rumoured to be open to the idea of extending with Tottenham, but neither party is in a rush to start talks.
