Ballon d’Or 2022: Thierry Henry names player that might win ahead of Benzema

Former Arsenal striker, Thierry Henry, has said Sadio Mane might win this year’s Ballon d’Or prize, if Liverpool lift the Champions League trophy.

Henry, speaking on CBS Sport, said Mane and Karim Benzema of Real Madrid are favourites for the personal accolade.

Both players will go head-to-head in the Champions League final on May 28.

“If you think about the final and to even make it bigger, it will involve two of the favourites for the Ballon d’Or – Mane and Benzema.

“That will add extra spice to it.

“I still believe Benzema is ahead, but if Mane wins it with Liverpool and they get the quadruple, then he will have a strong case.

“And that will be good for Africa.”
