Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid cruised into the Quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League after defeating English side, Manchester United 0-1 (1-2 on aggregate) in the second leg of their round of 16 clash on Tuesday night.
Brazilian left-back, Renan Lodi scored the only goal of the encounter at Old Trafford, in the 41 minute to send Atletico into the quarter finals stage.
United’s closest chance at equalizing was in 45mins + 2, when Bruno Fernandes unleashed a stinging shot from outside the box but was denied by the Atletico keeper, Jan Oblak.
The Ralf Rangnick’s side continued to press for an equalizer by making some changes with Pogba, Matic and Rashford coming on for Elanga, Mctominay and Bruno Fernandes respectively but were unlucky.
The Red Devils struggled throughout the game and were sent out of the competition in front of home crowd having drew 1-1 with Atletico in the first leg.
