For Arsenal, we see Declan Rice start in midfield with Thomas Partey holding and Martin Odegaard alongside him. Kai Havertz leads the line with Gabriel Jesus out due to that knee op.
Jurrien Timber is listed as left-back – it will be interesting to see what exact role he ends up playing, as we know he can step into midfield areas as well.
As for City, Erling Haaland starts up front for a talent-packed XI. Stefan Ortega gets the nod ahead of Ederson in goal and there’s no surprise to see Kevin De Bruyne on the bench – he’s not played a minute of pre-season as he recovers from that hamstring problem he aggravated in the Champions League final.
But otherwise, this could arguably be the strongest side available to Pep Guardiola, with new man Mateo Kovacic starting, Josko Gvardiol not yet available and Phil Foden no doubt itching to make an impact off the bench.
With less than a week until the big Premier League kick-off it’s time to get excited, with a cracking game in store.
