Amaju Pinnick lists conditions before Gernot Rohr gets new contract

NFF President, Amaju Pinnick has stated that he has intentions of renewing the contract of Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, but some clauses have to be included in it.

Rohr has been the coach of the Super Eagles since August 2016 and has helped them qualify for the 2018 World Cup and won Bronze at the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

His contract is bound to end in June 2020 and the German has stated that he isn’t short of offers from other countries.

However, Pinnick believes for a contract renewal to take place, certain clauses have to be agreed on.

‘We don’t have any issue with him right now,” Pinnick said in an interview with channels Television.

”The truth is contracts are classified documents but one thing I know that we are going to pass on to him is to strengthen the clauses that domesticate Gernot himself in Nigeria and domestic him to our leagues, that’s just it. “

”He needs to go round, watch some of the leagues, we are not saying take a player from here and bring him to the Super Eagles immediately”.

Pinnick also revealed that Nigeria’s chances of hosting the FIFA Under 20 Women’s World cup in 2020 are slim.

“We have some challenges with meeting up with some of FIFA’s demands.

“They(FIFA) have been magnanimous with us but we need more training sites and realistically it will be very tough for us to meet this.”
