West Ham United are said to be in talks with French club Lille about signing Amadou Onana this summer.
According to Sky Sports, Lille has already rejected the Hammers’ £32 million bid for the 20-year-old. However, discussions about a fee and possible payment structures are still being had.
According to West Ham insiders Claret and Hugh, the club is prepared to spend close to £34 million on the midfielder.
David Moyes has already brought in Alphonse Areola, Nayef Aguerd, Flynn Downes, and Gianluca Scamacca this summer.
Following Mark Noble’s retirement, the Scot nevertheless wants to add another central midfielder.
The fee and the payment structure are said to be the current sticking point. The summer window will close on September 1 and there is a strong chance that a deal can be reached before then.
The report also states that he will serve as Tomas Soucek’s rival and backup, who was earlier this summer linked to an exit.
Onana averaged 1.5 tackles and one interception across 32 Ligue 1 games last season.
