Andrea Pirlo, the legendary Italian midfielder, will coach Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa at Turkish Super Lig club Fatih Karagümrük.
On Sunday, Pirlo, who signed a one-year contract, was announced as Karagümrük’s new head coach on the club’s Twitter handle.
The 43-year-most old’s recent position was as head coach of Juventus for the 2020/21 season.
The statement from Fatih Karagumruk read: ”The world-famous football man recently coached Juventus, one of the most important clubs in Europe. Having also had Champions League experience with Juventus, Pirlo signed the contract that made him a member of Karagümrük for 1 year, starting on 1 July.
“Andrea Pirlo’s press conference will be held on Tuesday, June 14, and the place and time will be announced later by our club.
“We welcome our coach Andrea Pirlo and wish him success.”
Pirlo was named head coach of Juventus U23, the Italian giants’ reserve team, on July 30, 2020.
Following the dismissal of Maurizio Sarri, Pirlo was appointed head coach of the first team, signing a two-year contract.
Meanwhile, Musa is with the Super Eagles in Morocco ahead of their second Group A game of the 2023 AFCON qualifier against So Tomé and Principe on Monday.
He was an unused substitute in Sierra Leone’s 2-1 comeback win in Abuja last Thursday.
