AFCON 2023: Ndidi officially out of Super Eagles squad, replaced by Yusuf
Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi will not feature at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
This was confirmed by a post from the Super Eagles’ official Twitter handle on Wednesday morning.
It read: “Afcon camp update: Wilfred Ndidi Out; Alhassan Yusuf In.”
Royal Antwerp of Belgium star, Alhassan Yusuf has been confirmed as replacement for Ndidi.
Yusuf, who was originally named in the Super Eagles 41-man provisional squad for the competition is expected to join his teammates at their Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates camp on Wednesday (today).
It’s the first time the midfielder has earned a call-up to the Super Eagles.
Ndidi sustained an injury prior to Leicester City’s 4-1 win against Huddersfield Town on New Year’s Day.
The 26-year-old has featured for Nigeria at two AFCON finals.
