AFCON 2023: Mourinho sends message to Peseiro ahead of Nigeria vs Ivory Coast

Former Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, has asked Jose Peseiro, the head coach of the Super Eagles, to become the first Portuguese coach to win the Africa Cup of Nations.

Mourinho stated this while speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast.

According to him, Peseiro is his best friend in football.

Mourinho is now hoping Peseiro becomes the first coach from Portugal to win the AFCON.

“My best friend in football is in the final (AFCON).

“The Nigerian coach is my best friend. He grew up with me, we studied together. We went to University on the same day, we spent five years together every day.

“We left at the same time, he is probably my best friend in football and for him a big opportunity to make history, because mever before a Portuguese coach win the AFCON,” Mourinho said.

Nigeria will face Ivory Coast in the AFCON final on Sunday night.
