Manchester United is considering a move for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
The Serie A giants have informed the 27-year-old that he is free to leave this summer, and his services have been sought after across Europe.
Rabiot has been in talks with Monaco, who have been in the lead in the race to sign him, but his high salary is proving difficult, putting United in the running to sign him.
Negotiations have moved forward after United, who lost 2-1 to Brighton on the first day of the Premier League season, expressed interest in bringing Rabiot to Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, United are still working on signing top target Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, but the deal continues to drag its heels over a dispute regarding deferred wages.
