The game had ended 0-0 after 120 minutes, before the Swedes won it 5-4 in sudden death.
Earlier in the day, the Netherlands beat South Africa 2-0.
Sweden will play Japan in the last eight of the tournament, while Spain will take on the Dutch.
The last-16 fixtures will continue on Monday, when Nigeria take on England in the early kick-off.
