Lorient midfielder, Innocent Bonke has been called up to replace injured Wilfred Ndidi in Nigeria’s squad for the 2022 World Cup double-header against Ghana.
Announcing this on their official Twitter handle on Sunday, the team also wished Ndidi, who picked an injury during Leicester City’s Europa Conference League tie with Rennes last week, a quick recovery.
“Camp update: Innocent Bonke has been called up as a replacement for injured @Ndidi25 for the #WCQ games against #Ghana. Get well quick Wilf,” the team tweeted.
Bonke made his debut for the three-time African champions in during a World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde in September, 2021.
He has played in seven league games since joining Lorient from Swedish side, Malmo, in January.
The Super Eagles will take on the Black Stars of Ghana on Friday, 25th March, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi, while the return leg will be played at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on March 29, 2022.
