Former speaker of the house of representatives, Yakubu Dogara has spoken concerning the new leadership of the National Assemble which emerged yesterday.
The newky inaugurated 9th senate saw the emergence of Ahmad Lawan as Senate President while Ovie Omo-Agege became the new Deputy Senate President.
In the lower chambers, Femi Gbajabiamila became the Speaker of the House while Idris Waise as his deputy.
Reacting to the news, Yakubu Dogara says it’s a reflection of what members of the National Assembly wished for. He also urged the new leadership to continue with the strides attained by the leadership of the 8th senate.
He also called on the new leadership to ensure they enforce Democratic values in the proceedings.
Dogara made this known in a statement through his press secretary.
The statement read: “It is my sincere hope that the 9th Assembly under their leadership will consolidate on the unprecedented landmark achievements of the 8th Assembly and even surpass our records.
“We ask God to give them the wisdom and strength to pilot the affairs of their respective chambers and contribute their quota in enthroning good governance in Nigeria; they can always count on my support,”
