Peter Obi and his presidential running mate in the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti, have paid a visit to former president Olusegun Obasanjo.

This is according to photos shared by Datti on Facebook late Sunday night.

He, however, failed to give details of the meeting with Obasanjo which was held amid rumours of the former president endorsing their candidacy.

Datti captioned the photos: “His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi and my humble self Sen. Yusuf Datti Ahmed paid a courtesy visit to the Former President and Elder statesman, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.”

This comes days after presidential hopeful, Omoyele Sowore, accused Peter Obi of being backed by the people that ruined Nigeria.

Sowore wrote on social media, “Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida, Aliyu Gusau, Abubakar Abdusalam and Ango Abdulahi are Mr Peter Obi’s “Godfathers” the people that ruined Nigeria are the ones fronting for him. May it never happen that we will work with these criminals!”

Sowore’s jab on Peter Obi was in reaction to the Labour Party candidate saying that if elected president in 2023, his administration would not close shop and start witch-hunting previous administrations.

“As for probing the past government, let me tell you: you see me argue that you can’t close your shop and be chasing thieves; those who only look at yesterday and today will miss tomorrow. God did not give us eyes at the back; mine is to look forward.

“If you come into the government today and decide to stop the leakage first, you will get more. I am not going to be part of any form of victimisation or witch-hunt; it won’t happen. Nigerians must live within law and order,” Peter Obi said.
