Nigerian lawmaker, Orji Uzor Kalu who has just been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment following charges of a N7.1bn fraud charges levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has been spotted in tears as he was being escorted out of court
Wiping his tears with a handkerchief, the Senate’s Chief Whip, appealed to the prison warders not to handcuff him in public.
Promising to cooperate with the officials, he said;
‘2023, here we come.” “Where are you taking us to now? Please don’t handcuff me. I will follow you.”
The former Governor of Abia State who was found guilty by Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court in Lagos, is said to have committed the crimes alongside two other accomplices
The accomplices are said to have been found guilty and got multiple sentences between 10 years and 3 years whilst his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited would be wound up and its assets forfeited to the Federal Government.
