Ogun house of assembly impeach deputy speaker

Oludare Kadiri has been impeached as Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly.

Kadiri was unseated as the Deputy Speaker on Thursday by a vote of 19 out of the 26 lawmakers of the statehouse assembly.

Oludare’s impeachment was due to alleged gross misconduct of office.

Newsmen earlier reported that Kadiri was arrested and questioned by the Ogun state police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the state’s capital city.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun State police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest, adding that he, the Deputy Speaker led a team of touts to storm and attack some politicians, including the State Government Secretary, Tokunbo Talabi, in Oru-Ijebu, Ijebu North Local Government.

The Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, announced his deputy’s impeachment during the plenary session of the house on Thursday.

The impeachment was followed after an ad-hoc team was set to investigate the gross misconduct allegation laid against Kadiri, where he was found guilty charged.
