Obasanjo accused of laying foundation for Islamization of Nigeria
The Nigerian envoy to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Alhaji Hassan Ardo, has accused former president Olusegun Obasanjo of being the brains behind the Islamization agenda in Nigeria.
He made this known in reaction to a statement made by Obasanjo in which he accused President Muhammadu Buhari of pursuing an Islamization and Fulanization agenda.
In reaction, Ardo accused Obasanjo of laying the foundation for the agenda which he is now accusing Buhari of pursuing.
He pointed out that it was during Obasanjo’s regime that Nigeria became a member of the Organization of Islamic Countries, OIC.
He also noted that some States in Nigeria implemented shariah law during Obasanjo’s regime which he allowed.
“I read the statements by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to the effect that President Muhammadu Buhari has a Fulanisation and Islamisation agenda and I laughed.
“Have we forgotten so soon that it was during his time as the president of this country that we joined the OIC?”
