I made sure Oshiomhole fell by the roadside – Phillip Shaibu reveals

Phillip Shaibu, Edo State Deputy Governor, has opened up on why he worked with Godwin Obaseki, Governor of Edo State, to fight ex-national chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomole.

According to Phillip, Oshiomhole and his cohorts fell by the road because they did not believe in the state’s current administration plan.

Shaibu, who spoke from Benin, said he and the governor joined forces to fight for a revolution and liberate Edo from the grip of those who wants to mortgage their wealth and inheritance while they are flying private jets around.

“We said there must be a change and that godfathers must be brought to their knees and people must decide who lead them while leaders must be accountable to the people and not a few godfathers,” he said.

“But, along the line, people that didn’t believe in it fell by the road just like the way Oshiomhole fell by the roadside because he didn’t actually believe that we should make poverty history in Edo.

“Even the commissioners, SSAS, and some local government chairmen that resigned from our cabinet didn’t believe in the course because if they did, the fight then was needles.”

The Deputy Governor said he was not just loyal to Obaseki but to a course, adding that it was the same way he fought godfathers and suffered tremendously during the administration of Oshiomhole.

Godwin Obaseki and Shuaibu fought a strong and fierce political battle before the 2020 gubernatorial elections in the state.

The battle saw Obaseki and Shaibu dump the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, where they contested and won the election.

Though the ex-national chairman of APC vowed to install his candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, as the next Edo governor, Obsakei and his deputy won the election, ending godfatherism in the state.
