The senator representing Kano South senatorial district in the National Assembly and chairman, senate committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Sen. Kabiru Gaya has assured that all modalities are in place for a hitch-free governorship election in Anambra State.
The lawmaker gave the assurance during an interview session with journalist in National Assembly after an interactive session with the National Assembly joint committee on INEC, he said all modalities are in place to guarantee hit free election in the State.
According to him “We at the committe level in National assembly, we deem it fit to invite chairman, federal commissioners of Independent Electorial Commission (INEC) and Security Agencies to know their level of preparation and readiness for the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State.
“We invited National Chairman and federal commissioners of INEC, Director general of civil defence, immigration, prison and other service chiefs.

“From our meetings we asked questions and all we needed to hear from chairman is how independent commission (INEC) is prepared for the election and from what they told us, they are prepared, with both ballot papers, sensitive and the non sensitive materials are already on ground in Anambra state even down to some local governments where elections will be held in the State”.
He also expressed happiness on the report from “the security Agencies on ground for the meeting confirmed that they are ready and that they will deploy more of their personnel to the state having full knowledge of the situation in the area and have promised that they will work hard to make sure this election is hitch free and violence free election.
“So, we have hope and believe that, elections will hold in Anambra state. We cannot even afford of not holding the election, we will hold the election. INEC will declare the winner of the election immediately”.
He charged all people of Anambra to please, Coorperate with anybody that will emerge as winner of the election in order him or her to be able to govern the state peacefully because we need peace in Anambra and all other states of the federation.
On the issue of electronic transmission of results, he said, “First of all it is left for INEC to decide just like they did in Edo state, transmitting result from polling units that most of us Nigerians were monitoring the elections that even before 4 pm we didn’t wait for official result announcement by the INEC because our involvement.
“I assured you that INEC will do everything possible to make sure that Nigerians are fully involved, notified or at least carry along during the process of the election process”
The senator also solicited for support and cooperation of the media in giving situational reports of all that will be happening in the field on that very day of the election 6th November, 2021.
“We need the cooperation of gentle men of the press to be involve in the process of this election just as you guys were involved during the process of electoral acts Bill”.
