Akeredolu speaks on legalizing marijuana in Ondo State
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has cleared the air concerning plans to legalize marijuana in the state.
Last week, the governor was spotted in Thailand with the NDLEA boss where they went to learn how to cultivate medical marijuana.
In a tweet, Akeredolu revealed that Ondo State plans on keying into the legal marijuana market because the plant thrives well on its soil.
According to him, cultivating Marijuana will create a lot of jobs for the youth in the state.
Speaking on how far the state has gone with its plans for the project, Akeredolu said:
“We are still at the elementary stage of this matter. Before we legalise cannabis growing in this state, it has to pass through certain procedures and we have begun the procedures.
“The assistance we seek from the Federal Government is the collaboration we already have with the NDLEA, which is an agency of the government.
“Since we are dealing with the NDLEA, we are dealing with the Federal Government.”
