Former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has said all presidential aspirants that are not from the South-East have no conscience.
Some of the presidential aspirants include Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Governor Kayode Fayemi, Senate President Ahmad Lawan etc.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Monday, Kalu said they ought not to contest because the South-East was yet to occupy the Presidency which their regions have tasted.
He said, “If they have a conscience, they will not run. But they have no conscience. Obasanjo was President for eight years, (Prof Yemi) Osinbajo was (will be) Vice-President for eight years, but south-easterners have never got a president for one year. How would you sleep if you were in my position? The gods of the land are asking questions in Igboland. Where are these people? They are asking, ‘Why will these people come again?”
When asked about his response to the gods, the lawmaker said, “The answer is that they are greedy. They should stop being greedy. And that is what is killing Nigeria.”
This is as he threw his weight behind Lawan, saying he’s ready to be sweeper for him in Aso Rock.
“With Ahmed Lawan, I am ready to be the sweeper of the place (Aso Rock). I don’t need to have a position if Ahmed Lawan is the president,” the former Abia State governor noted.
“I can sweep the Villa; my house is very close to the Villa. I can be the sweeper of the Villa; it is just a stone’s throw. I am not joking.”
