2023: Makinde decides to dump PDP for ADC after alleged discord with party leaders

Seyi Makinde wins election

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief has disclosed that Governor Seyi Makinde has decided to leave the party.

It would be recalled that Seyi Makinde won the 2019 governorship election under the auspices of PDP.

Asking to be kept anonymous, a chieftain of PDP confirms that the governor would forfeit the party following discord between him and some of the party executive chiefs.

According to the PDP chieftain, Makinde would move in with ADC after the conclusion of the upcoming local government election in the state.

The PDP chieftain further claims that Seyi’s decision to join ADC was due to his dissatisfaction with the leaders of the PDP in the state.

Speaking with newsmen at Ibadan, the chieftain said Mkainde has been having conversations with chieftains of ADC, including Mrs. Monsurat Sunmonu, a former Speaker in the State to help him have an easy and smooth defection to ADC.

The PDP chieftain explained that Sunmonu is one of the people helping Makinde secure his place with ADC and also to have a smooth defection.

The chieftain who spoke to newsmen reveals the disagreement that ensued between Makinde and PDP executives in a WhatsApp group where he left.

The report revealed that Makinde left the official WhatsApp platform for PDP in the state created by the party’s Public Secretary, Engineer Akeem Olatunji.

The governor was said to have left the party’s WhatsApp group in annoyance at about 10 P.M on Saturday after he was confronted by the Party’s Public Secretay who posted the videos of Fulani herdsmen attack the people of Ayete, headquarters of Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State, where other towns like Igangan were also included.

Olatunji attacked the governor, demanding that he take drastic steps to deliver the people of Ayete from the continuous attack by Fulani herdsmen.

He said, “This video has gone viral, but the authority needs to confirm the claim. It’s very urgent to address the message…”

Reacting angrily to the video posted at about 10:07 pm on Saturday, Makinde said attacked the PDP Party Publicity Secretary, he said; “Every time some idiots make (sic) a video, the government must respond… I don’t get it really… you need mature people to make meaningful contributions on your platform.”

After that, the governor left the platform.

The PDP chieftain said this matter, among many other reasons, is why Makinde decides to leave the party.

“Yes, you will see, he will soon leave the party. He is going to ADC. I am telling you, he will leave the PDP soon.

“He has been talking to those in ADC. I am telling you that he will soon leave PDP. After the local government election, he will leave PDP.”

Mr. Taiwo Adisa, who is the Chief Press Security to Governor Makinde, stated that everyone should be very careful about posting fake audios and videos that threatens the security of the state on social media.

Adisa, in his remake, urges the residents of the state to denounce such contents.

“Yes, you will see, he will soon leave the party. He is going to ADC. I am telling you, he will leave the PDP soon.

“He has been talking to those in ADC. I am telling you that he will soon leave PDP. After the local government election, he will leave PDP.”
