The Nigeria Labour Congress has threatened another strike on August 14 if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration failed to withdraw the lawsuit filed against the union.
Joe Ajaero, NLC president, disclosed this on Thursday after its National Executive Meeting.
Ajaero stated that while the union had agreed to halt its nationwide mass protest, which commenced on Wednesday, he stressed that the Ministry of Justice should withdraw its lawsuit against organized labour on or before August 11.
Kemi Filani News recalls that in a suit marked NICN/ABJ/158/2023, the federal government secured a restraining order against Labour Unions from embarking on any industrial action.
Consequently, the leadership of NLC had warned that failure to withdraw the suit would amount to a nationwide comprehensive strike.
“We will embark on a nationwide comprehensive strike beginning Monday, August 14, 2023, if this contemptuous court summons is not withdrawn by whosoever initiated it,” he stated.
