Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the xenophobic attacks going on in South Africa which mostly affects Nigerians living in the country.
The attacks have seen properties belonging to foreigners get burnt and looted by angry mob who claim they are fed up of having foreigners living among them.
Videos which surfaced on social media also show people running for safety as the money descend on foreigners they come across.
Reacting to the incident, Atiku stated that urgent steps need to be taken it necessary authorities to curb the ugly trend.
On his official IG handle, he wrote:
“Reported attacks against Nigerians in South Africa is unacceptable and stands condemned. Urgent steps need to be taken with the SA authorities and the African Union to bring an end to this ill wind that can only end up destroying the fabric of our African brotherhood”.
