The Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Mr Haruna Abdullahi, says the service is committed to collaborating with international organisations to build staff capacity.
This is contained in a statement by Mr Mustapha Sumaila, FCT-IRS Head of Corporate Communications, on Wednesday in Abuja.
Abdullahi disclosed this when he received Global President of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Mr Joseph Owolabi, and his team on a courtesy visit in Abuja.
He said the service under his leadership was committed to prioritising capacity building as a way of improving revenue collection in the FCT.
While highlighting advantages and global opportunities ACCA had provided the service, the FCT-IRS boss said there was need for its personnel to key into ACCA programmes.
He said that the service was committed to supporting its personnel to attain the expertise needed for the job.
According to him, FCT-IRS is geared towards setting an example in terms of the public sector efficiency in the country.
The Acting Chairman said the service was saddled with the global responsibility of ensuring well-trained and knowledgeable professionals.
Abdullahi said ACCA had grown over the years, adding that the service as an active partner would strive to maintain the image of ACCA across all spheres.
Owolabi said that the FCT-IRS was playing a critical role in the territory with a ripple effect on the country at large.
On role of the Institute, Owolabi said it would continue to empower its members to attract right talents to develop the next generation of professional accountants. (NAN)
