Serena Williams opened the 2018 US Open with a comfortable 6-4 6-0 first-round win over Magda Linette on Monday.
The mother of one expressed her excitement after making a return to the New York.
“The first set was tight, it was my first match back here in New York so it wasn’t the easiest.
“Once I got settled I started to do what I’ve been doing in practice and I felt better.
“I think I’m getting there – I’ve been feeling great in practice.”
Serena Williams has won six US Open titles.
Williams, 36, missed the US Open last year, she gave birth to her daughter, Olympia shortly after the tournament started.
