US Embassy speaks on denying Oyedepo visa

The US Embassy in Nigeria have described the news that they denied Bishop David Oyedepo of Faith Tabernacle visa, as false.
A national daily had reported that a mild drama played out on Thursday at the Lagos office of the Embassy of the United States after Bishop David Oyedepo was denied visa.
THISDAY newspaper gathered that the embassy did not give any other reason except the standard default explanation that the Bishop did not qualify for visa renewal in its assessment and urged him to try again.
In anger, David Oyedepo reportedly created a scene while querying the grounds for his refusal, stressing that he had been traveling to the states as far back as 1980s and had not violated any rules or committed any crime to have warranted being denied a renewal of his visa.
The report added that the Clergyman then called his bodyguards who gave him a phone which he used to make certain calls.
This has now been described as false news by the embassy.
A statement on the embassy’s official Twitter handle reads:
: “#FalseNews Alert! Be advised, the reports making the rounds about a visa being denied to Nigerian Bishop Oyedepo are false. If you have seen this manufactured item in the media, help defeat this #misinformation by communicating to everyone that it is completely false”.
