Prof. Lilian Salami, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, has directed the institution’s closure for academic activities in preparation for the 2023 general elections.
Mr Ademola Bobola, the institution’s Registrar, announced this in a notice obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Benin.
According to Bobola, the university will be closed from February 22 to March 14, in accordance with a directive issued by the Federal Government through the National Universities Commission.
The registrar, who said that normal academic activities would resume on March 15, also directed all the students resident on campus to vacate their hostels latest 12 noon on Feb. 22.
He quoted the vice-chancellor and the university management as enjoining students to conduct themselves peacefully during the period of the general elections and wishing them safe travels all through. (NAN)
