The governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kaduna State on Thursday sacked Governor Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kemi Filani News reports that the verdict was announced via Zoom after the judges shunned the physical hall.
In a split decision of a ratio of 2:1, the three-man tribunal panel led by Justice Victor Oviawe declared that the election was inconclusive and thus directed that a supplementary election should be held by the Independent National Electoral Commission within 90 days.
The tribunal ruled further that INEC is to conduct election in seven wards, four local govts, 24 polling units consisting of 16,300 registered voters.
The petition was filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate, Isa Ashiru.
Kemi Filani News recalls that the Independent National Election Commission had declared Sani the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial poll.
However, in a twist, Gov Sani said the Judgement was in his favour.
He said: “I am extremely delighted and humbled by the ruling of the election tribunal affirmed my victory in the Kaduna state Governorship elections”.
