Tight security at National Assembly as Tinubu presents 2024 budget

National Assembly Fire guts storeroom

President Bola Tinubu is to present the 2024 Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly today (Wednesday).

This has seen security has been beefed up around the premises.

Officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) have been deployed to man the entrance gates are restricting access to the complex.

As early as 6:30 a.m., journalists arrived in their numbers hoping to access the complex for the business of the day but they were shocked to meet a legion of security men who insisted that only designated “2024 Budget Presentation” tags could grant them passage.

Those who displayed their official identification cards and National Assembly passes met a brick wall, leaving them with no option but to patiently wait for the tags which came hours later.

The usually packed visitors’ car park played host to only a handful of vehicles when our correspondent succeeded in gaining entrance after getting his tag.
