Teenager remanded for alleged theft of N3.3m school property

On Wednesday, a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State ordered the remand of one 18-year-old Lekan Daramola for stealing a N3.3 million primary school property.

The Magistrate, Mr Fadahunsi Adefioye, gave the order after Daramola pleaded guilty to a count charge of stealing.

Adefioye directed that the defendant be detained at the Awhajigoh custodial facility in Badagry.

He continued the case until March 30 for a review of the facts and sentencing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offences in February at Ilogbo-Elegba area of Lagos.

Okuoimose said that the defendant unlawfully broke into L A Primary School 1 and 2 and stole electrical wires, a pumping machine, ceiling fans and some other items to the tune of N3.3 million.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 309 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
