Luck ran out on a 19-year-old unemployed woman, Ifeoluwa Adekunle,
after she was caught stealing money from a bride on her wedding day.
Adekunle was charged with stealing N60,000 at a wedding and was
arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday.

Adekunle, a resident of Alagbado, Lagos, was said to have committed

According to the Prosecutor, Insp. Clement Okuoimose, the defendant
unlawfully entered into the wedding reception of one Mrs Adeshina
Adeyanju and stole N60, 000 belonging to the bride.

He told the court that the money was stolen from the bride’s bag while she was dancing.
“The accused, who was not invited to the wedding, stole the celebrant’s money,” he said.
According to Okuoimose, the complainant was dancing with her well

that she stole that N3,000 from another wedding before coming to the
complainant’s,” he said.

The prosecutor told the court that the offence contravened section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and was admitted to bail
by the Magistrate, Mrs O.Y Ekogbule, at the sum of N40, 000, with two
sureties in like sum.
