The Supreme Court has affirmed Gboyega Oyetola as the governor of Osun State over Ademola Adeleke.
The tribunal on March 22 had declared Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner of the September 2018 election but now Supreme Court has affirmed the decision of the Court of Appeal which also nullified the tribunal’s judgement.
The Supreme Court on Friday in a split judgement agreed with the Court of Appeal which ruled out majority judgement delivered at the tribunal.
The court said Peter Obiora, the judge who had read the majority judgement at the tribunal was on February 6 clearly absent, following the documents before the court.
It said Mr Obiora’s absence that day proved that the tribunal had no authority to give any judgment on the matter.
However, two of the seven members of the Supreme Court panel disagreed with the ruling.
Bode Rhodes-Vivour read the Supreme Court ruling.
