Former NFL football star Antonio Armstrong and his wife Dawn Armstrong
were fatally shot in their Houston home early Friday, July 29.
That the double homicide was allegedly committed by their 16-year-old son, who was immediately taken into custody.
According
to the Houston Chronicle, Dawn was found dead in the couple’s bedroom.
Antonio, a former football star, was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital
in critical condition and died there several hours later.
Police
told local a news station that the Armstrongs’ teenage son had been
charged with murder, though no motive had been identified. The
16-year-old was also the one to call 911 around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Armstrong’s wife, Dawn, was pronounced dead in their
bedroom after their 16-year-old son dialed 911 around 1:30 a.m., police
sources told KTRK-TV. Antonio Armstrong was taken to the hospital in
critical condition, but multiple local media outlets reported that he
had died later in the day.
Investigators who searched the
southwest Houston home found a gun still smoking with a note next to it
reading, “I’ve been watching you,” the TV station reported. Police
arrested the 16-year-old teen. Sources close to the investigation said
he was likely to be charged as an adult.
“There was nothing left
out. There was no neglect or anything. There was nothing that even could
possibly have justified this situation,” Dawn Armstrong’s cousin, Vaun
Lee, told reporters. “This doesn’t even make sense. It makes no sense.”
All
three of the couple’s children — including a 20-year-old son and a
teenage daughter — were in the Palmetto St. home at the time of the
shooting. All were unharmed, Houston police homicide investigator Jimmy
Dodson told the Houston Chronicle.
