Joshua Lucky, a 25-year-old scavenger, was sentenced to six months in prison on Tuesday for stealing iron window protectors.
Lucky was prosecuted on a two-count charge of stealing and breaking into living house.
Insp. Olufemi Omilana, the prosecutor, informed the court that Lucky committed the crime on March 17 at around 8.3 a.m.
According to him, the convict broke into Oluwatoyin Christopher’s house at Plot 5, Akoto Layout, Elebu area, Ibadan.
”In the process, he stole five iron window protectors valued at N100, 000,” Omilana said.
He said the offence contravened the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs M. Giwa-Babalola, after finding Lucky guilty, also gave him an option of six months community service.
She said the convict should provide a surety who should guarantee that he would not abscond while undertaking the community service.
The magistrate said that Lucky should be sent to Agodi Correctional Centre, Ibadan, if he failed to provide a surety. (NAN)
