Defending Champions Real Madrid have been dumped out of the UEFA Champions League by Ajax.
They were beaten 4-1 at home by the Dutch side who now proceed to their first quarter finals in 22 years.
The game ended 3-5 in aggregates with Real Madrid going into the game with a 2-1 win away at Ajax.
The defeat now puts manager Santiago Solari under intense scrutiny as it now makes it the fourth consecutive loss he’s suffered.
Reacting to the recent form of the club, former footballer Ruud Gullit stated that the exit of Real Madrid former manager, Zinedine Zidane, was impeccable:
“Zidane was clever enough to get out of there on time when they lost Ronaldo,” he said while appearing as a pundit on beIN Sports .
“That’s the whole point. And whoever comes after that has a difficult task.
“You have no Ronaldo. That’s 50 goals you don’t have.”
