Rangers Int`l FC thrash Doma United FC 1-0 in Awka
Rangers International FC of Enugu defeated Doma United FC of Gombe 1-0 on Sunday at the Awka Township Stadium to take all three points.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Nigeria Professional Football League’s condensed 2022–2023 season’s Group B Match Day 7 game was a draw (NPFL).
After a careless tackle on Austin Onyemaechi, who was headed for the goal, the Flying Antelopes were awarded a penalty kick in the 39th minute, which Chidera Eze successfully converted.
With the win, the Enugu-based team now has 8 points from 7 games, including 2 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses.
After the game, Abdul Maikaba, the head coach of Rangers, told reporters that the team had overcome its initial sluggish performance and was back to winning.
Maikaba said the club would work on its away records to ensure that they not only gather points at home but also from away games.
He commended his players for giving a good account of themselves while admitting that Doma FC were equally a good team.
On his part, Coach Akinade Onigbinde of Doma FC, said his team anticipated a tough game against Rangers and played according to plan.
Onigbinde, who regretted the loss, blamed it on the careless tackle that resulted in the penalty.
Doma FC are currently fifth on the Group B table with 9 points from two wins, three draws and two losses. (NAN)
