Traders at the Gwarimpa, Abuja market were thrown into confusion at wee hours of today after a fire destroyed wares estimated at millions of naira at the market.
Kemi Filani News gathered that the fire reportedly started from one of the stores in the market at 2:00 am before it spread to other shops. The source of the inferno was however could not be immediately ascertained.
In the videos of the incident posted on social media showed firefighters from the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service could be seen battling to put out the blaze which consumed several shops and makeshift stalls.
Some individuals could also be seen trying to rescue their goods and properties as the fire spread from shop to shop.
The director-general, FCT Emergency Management Agency, Alh. Idris Abass is yet to confirm the incident.
