Sola Gbokoyi aka Shoprite or Bilawu is a talented actress. Apart from acting, she has so many businesses
working for her. Interestingly, not everyone is aware that she is
married. She got to one Mr Olugbenga Gbokoyi who encouraged her to join
acting when she showed the interest, and their union is blessed with
kids.
She recently shot a movie titled Somolu babes which is set for
premiere on March 6th 2016 at the Radio Lagos Multipurpose Hall,
Agidingbi, Ikeja. The event is a 2-in-1 because she will be celebrating
her birthday same day, where 2 musicians, Obesere and St Janet will be
performing live. When she was asked about what prompted the production
of Somolu Babes, the talented actress said,
“I decided to shoot the
story of my experiences in Somolu and I titled it Somolu Babes. Reason I
gave it that title was because we have had Omo Ghetto, Omo Mushin, Omo
Oshodi and the I want mine to be different. You may even call it Omo
Somolu and you won’t get a marketer for it, but Somolu babes will be
marketed by Small World.
The story is about the wrong impression of people about Somolu. The
people creating war or giving the area a bad name are not the indigenes
of the soil. The cultists are of course from the higher institutions
close to Somolu likewise the prostitutes, touts and the rest of them
residing in the area are actually not from there but they are the ones
giving it a bad name. I did my research before I wrote the story, I
interviewed the kings, Motorcycle riders and those living in Somolu and
from my findings, I pointed out the true story of Somolu. People should
just buy and watch. I have the likes of Obesere, Fathia Balogun, Toyin
Aimakhu, Regina Chukwu, Jaye Kuti, Ademola Adesanya as cast and Adebayo
Tijani directed it.
I have produced a lot of movies before this Somolu babes one of which
was Bilawu. It is a comic movie and the film boosted my career but
Shoprite was my first production. I did that in 2013 and my marketer
really appreciated it before I shot Bilawu and after that, I shot
another one in London which is yet to be out. I titled it Shoprite in
London”, Gbokoyi said.
