One Farida Banti has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for the alleged murder of his wife, following a heated argument between them.
The 39-year-old suspect who hails from Hungu village in the Mariga Local Government Area of the state was reportedly arrested on Sunday, January 13, the murder of his wife Hajo, also known as Maijari.
The reports reveal that Farida had sent his wife back to her parent’s house to “learn manners”. He, However, got angry when he demanded that his wife return home but she refused.
The suspect ios said to have assaulted his wife with a cutlass following the argument.
“I inflicted deep cuts on my wife, which resulted in her death because she refused to obey me.
“In fact, it was the extreme provocation that made me kill my wife,” he said while responding to questions from journalists.
Farida also said that he felt bad for killing her, noting that “women must learn to obey their husbands so that what happened to my wife will not happen to them.”
Muhammad Abubakar, Police Public Relations Officer for the state, who confirmed the incidence, disclosed that the suspect confessed to his crime.
he also added that upon the completionm of the investigation, the suspect will be charged to court.
