Police foils kidnap attempt, rescue victim in Jigawa

Jigawa State Police Command foiled the kidnap attempt and rescued the victim unhurt.

The command DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam spokesman confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.

He said the incident happened on 17th Sept. 2023 at about 2040hrs when hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons invaded Kwanar Garki village, Babura LGA, and kidnapped one Isyaku Umar of Kofar Arewa Babura LGA, and shot one Ahmad Abdullahi of Babbar Ruga village in his armpit.

H said after receiving the report, a team of Policemen led by DPO Babura Divisional Police Headquarters rushed to the scene and rescued the kidnapped victim unhurt.

He said the victims were rushed to Babura General Hospital for treatment.

DSP Shiisu explained Police in the Babura Division alerted the Ringim Division that the suspected kidnappers were heading towards the Ringim Area.

According to him, “A team of Policemen and the Vigilante Group mounted a stop and search at Daushe village along Ringim Kanya Babba highway.”

“On sighting the Police, the hooligans abandoned their Vectra motor vehicle with reg. no. NEN 20 NZ Anambra State and took to their hills.”

He said one (1) AK 47 riffle, one (1) magazine, fifteen (15) live ammunition, and an Android handset were recovered in the vehicle.
A police spokesman said efforts to arrest the fleeing criminals are on top gear.
