The Nigerian Police Force have stated that adequate security has been deployed to ensure the safety of Nigerians living in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
The security measures taken by the police is on the presidential directive issued by the Inspector General of Police.
This is coming few days after a protest by Shi’ites of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, turned bloody. The protesters who were demanding the release of their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-zakzaky, clashed with the police who reportedly opened fire on them.
Assuring the residents of Abuja of their safety, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba stated on Radio Nigeria Police Diary:
“I want to reassure citizens particularly residents of the FCT that adequate security measures have been emplaced to protect all Nigerians in line with the Presidential directives to the IGP. We have security cordon around the city”.
