Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, has stated that the crowd which booed his principal in Maiduguri yesterday as sponsored by the opposition.
Kemifilani reported that Buhari was booed during a visit to the Borno State capital to commiserate over the death of 30 persons killed by Boko Haram.
The video below shows a crowd booing while the president’s convoy was passing in Maiduguri. They could be heard chanting in Hausa saying, ‘Ba ma so’ which roughly means ‘we don’t want.’
However, Garba Shehu who reacted to the viral video told BBC Hausa that the crowd was sponsored by the opposition.
“I was part of the delegation that entered Maiduguri right from the airport to the palace of the Shehu of Borno. The people came out to say thank you and welcome us. But there was a group which came out shouting ‘we don’t want’. Some politicians gathered some miscreants and paid them money to boo Buhari” he said.
